Siu Fai Wing has liked art since childhood. In the chaotic 1960s and 1970s of China, he has already acquainted with many painters. One of them is the famous Liu Haisu. Master Liu said Mr Siu was his “brick”.

(Abstract from “Forewords” for The Collection of Hong Kong Gallery, 1990)
Siu Fai Wing’s network and acquaintance with the artistic fi eld for many years has made himself a connoisseur in art painting as well.
(Abstract from “The Encounter with the Artistic Field”, 1990)
In the middle of the “density” shown in his paintings, it is not crowded, yet the stratum is very clear, which is extremely diffi cult to portray. The portrayal of bamboo is also very good and nice. It looks like bamboo on one hand but not exactly so on the other hand. Your pictures have your own styles and are completely different with the past. When you nearly looked at them, they are attractive because you could see all those brushwork of painting. The skills of plum blossoms portrayal are originated from Guan Lao, however Siu’s are more stratifi ed.
Since he has a wide acquaintance with the world’s top artists, he has absorbedb many modern painters’ techniques. Simultaneously he does art collection and has prolonged personal exposure with contemporary and ancient drawings. These have made his skills become better. I have not beenin contact with Mr. Siu for several years and I notice that he has taken on an entirely new look with very strong personality in his paintings, which also has made himself become one of the renowned modern and contemporary Chinese painters. To this point, I have to congratulate Mr. Siu, my old friend.
